Satisfied

Psalm 34:8, “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

If you feel, or have you ever felt, that the song, “I can’t get no satisfaction”  is your personal anthem, then read today’s verse and drink deeply from this well of promise. God will deliver, protect and satisfy every soul that trusts Him! When a person puts their faith and trust in the Lord to save them, that person becomes a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) in Christ Jesus. This means, “the creation of new desires, not just new duties; new delights, not just new deeds; new treasures, not just new tasks” (John Piper). When you find that you’re not satisfied, check to be sure that you are actually trusting Jesus. Trust Jesus in every situation, and you will always be satisfied.

Never Be Ashamed

Psalm 31:1, “In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.”

Life is often unstable and stressful. Many voices clamor for your ear and your trust. The only way to have confidence in shaky times is to be firmly planted on trustworthy ground. There is no more sure foundation than the Lord and His Word. Place your confidence here, and you will never be ashamed. Following God’s Word is the only cure for shame, including the shame we heap on ourselves for having trusted wrong voices in the past. God is righteous. He will deliver. No matter what, listen to and trust in God’s Word. Which is His voice. Not only will you be blessed, you will be steadied to bless others.

God’s Perfect Track Record

Psalm 18:30, “As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.”

The desire for justice is a natural impulse. The observation of injustice is too regular an occurrence. Sadder yet is the uncomfortable fact that we are all guilty of being unjust. Praiser God that He is blameless in every way! Others – including us – will waver in their commitments. Not God. He has proven to always and only be faithful. His record is spotless. He will shield every trusting soul. He hasn’t lost one yet. Are you enjoying the peace of the tried and true God? You will, if you look to Him in and for all things.

At All Times

Psalm 62:8, “Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.”

At all times our trust is placed in someone or something. We trust the car to get us to work. We trust our employer to pay us our wages. We trust our friends to be there for us. We trust in so many others on some level every day. This Psalm reminds us that at all times and with our entire being we should completely trust God. While there is absolutely no shelter FROM God, there is only shelter IN Him. Be wholly vulnerable with God because He will perfectly shelter you. Take a moment to think about that today.

Battered but Not Broken

Psalm 34:19, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”

There are two promises from God here. First, the righteous will endure many afflictions. Not maybe the righteous will be afflicted a little bit on the rare occasion. No. The afflictions of the righteous are many. BUT the Lord delivers the righteous from every one of them. Praise Him for the second promise! There could be no greater comfort than this. Expect many troubles. Trust God for deliverance from all of them. Those who trust in the Lord will be battered, but not a bone will be broken (v. 20). The Lord comes through every time.

Kansas was Wrong

Psalm 31:15, “My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.”

Don’t have all the answers? Don’t even know all the questions? Ever wonder: Where is my sanity and security? The first six words of Psalm 31:15 provide the answer. All we are is not dust in the wind. Our times, short or long, rich or poor, sad or happy, sick or healthy, are in God’s hands. There is no cause to be anxious about tomorrow if you trust and rest in the Father’s hand. We are invited to lay down all our burdens, fears, anxieties, heartaches, disappointments, and victories before the Father. Take advantage of that opportunity. Live underneath His sheltering hand and discover true and lasting rest (Matthew 11:28-30). Trust God the Father. He knows best.

Trust for the Rescue

Psalm 22:4, “Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.”

Remember what you know. Follow that course of action when the press of hard days continues to squeeze your life. Psalm 22 is a lament and a Messianic psalm, quoted by Christ during the depth of His sorrow on the cross. Suffering is real and it hurts, and in its midst the only spark of hope we often have is what we already know to be true. God has delivered others (including me) in the past because they trusted Him. Since God is good and He does not change, we should trust Him to deliver us now. Remember what you know. Trust the God you know. He is the only lifeline that will deliver.

Bless the LORD, O my soul!

Psalm 103:1-2, “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:”

This psalm has soul. Saturated with praise. This is the natural response for those who have trusted and are trusting in the precious name of Christ Jesus. Rather than hearts and minds full of anxiety, strife, bitterness, or the grind of this world, how much better it is for our souls to be overflowing with adoration to and for the holy, covenant making and covenant keeping Lord. God’s goodness is not just something about which we read but something to be experienced. Our souls will produce music as sweet and as exhilarating as this as we daily trust the Lord whose mercy endures forever.

A More Glorious Truth

Psalm 9:10, “And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.”

Life is a mess. In our immediate environment and in the wider word there is oppression, injustice, and the success of wickedness. That is a fact, but here is another, more certain and certainly more glorious truth, the ultimate and assured triumph of Christ and His righteousness. The powerful and praiseworthy Lord is the refuge for the oppressed and troubled. Those who trust Him need not be dominated by fear, because He has promised to never leave or forsake you. Take refuge in and trust Him. No other name is able to deliver salvation and justice but Christ alone.

Call It Out

Psalm 7:1, “O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:”

Persecution is not a thing of the past. Many believers around the world still face severe persecution for their faith. Indeed, this is a promise to any who live a godly life in Christ Jesus. Perhaps the most powerful and regularly used instrument of persecution is the tongue. Deliverance is found only in Christ Jesus. The Lord died on the cross so that He might be your God, yours by a special covenant sealed by His precious blood. Trust in the One who was persecuted to death, yet lives, and you will likewise be delivered, now and for eternity.
